Went for lunch. Dainty starters and dessert off set menu. Main course was nice and tasty.
Very nice food, well presented, fresh and well-cooked. Service good and friendly. Lovely old country house setting but somehow a bit lacking in ambience. Only criticism otherwise was that my ale was served chilled. Lager should be chilled, a few select India pale ales can be chilled but traditional bitter, in my opinion, should never ever be chilled.
Absolutely beautiful hotel. Loved the quiet comfortable surroundings. The gardens are great and must be walked around to appreciate them.The staff were great. Room a bit basic but clean and comfortable. Could do with modernising, particularly the bathroom. Hairdryer in room, Iron & board available upon request...they were provided to us within a minute of asking.We had a warm weekend which allowed us to sit in the courtyard outside the bar area and chill. They had Wadworths 6X on tap which was a very nice ale. They have Guinness as well.Meals were nice, though breakfast took a while just to get a coffee, but worth the wait and we weren't in a rush.Tried a few local pubs, even one half hour walk away but couldn't beat the view, surroundings and drink at this hotel.Will definitely visit this hotel again!
We went for Sunday lunch and had a good time. The setting is lovely, the staff are friendly and helpful, the menu was good and varied and the meal was very pleasant. It was our first time here but it won't be our last. Just a small comment to say that gravel is the enemy of disabled people!
